Building Regulations & Operations

Operations
All work or service requests must go through the Assistant Director for Facilities or assigned designee. The Union has a maintenance sta to handle issues such as cooling/heating, plumbing, lighting, housekeeping, and pest control. DEPARTMENTAL UNITS WILL BE BILLED BY THE UNION FOR LSU FACILITY SERVICES CALL OUTS. Contact the Facilities Manager at 225-578-7532.
Trash/ Recycling
Union Building Services is responsible for trash and recycling pick-up. Please breakdown large boxes and place near trash receptacles for proper disposal. Contact the Building Services Manager at 225-578-5130 with questions or for additional information.
Cooling/ Heating
Departmental areas will have access to local thermostats to control your designated spaces. Contact the Facilities Manager at 225-578-7532 with questions or for additional information.
Pest Control
The Union maintains a pest control contract for monthly services. Contact Facilities Manager at 225-578-7532 with questions or for additional information.
Loading Dock
The Union loading dock and lot are for loading and unloading purposes only. Parking is not allowed at anytime, including nights, weekends and holidays. VEHICLES WILL BE TOWED AT OWNER’S EXPENSE. Contact the Facilities Manager at 225-578-7532 for Facilities with questions or for additional information.
Keys
Each unit must designate one person to request keys. Whether a long-term or temporary assignment, the individual who will have possession of and responsibility for, will sign for the key(s). Keys should not be loaned or passed to another person. When key(s) are no longer needed or the signee is leaving their unit, the keys must be returned to the Facility Managers. Lost keys may require the re-keying of a door lock or multiple doors and the unit may be liable for the expense of re-keying of locks and key replacements.
Access Card
When card access is required, the LSU ID card or supplemental card will be coded for door access. All requests for card access should follow the same process as mentioned above. The Facility Manager will code the card for access and will change the access when the individual leaves the unit or student organization. Unit designees must immediately notify the Facility Managers at 225-578-7532 when an individual with card access is no longer with the unit or organization.
Lost & Found
Lost items may be brought to the Information Center located on the 2nd floor of the Student Union. Items are held for two weeks. After two weeks, items of value will be turned over to the LSU Police Department. If you have lost something in or around the Union, check with the Information Center in person or by calling 225-578-5141. Another Lost and Found location is the Public Safety building. They can be reached at 225-578-3231.
Food Policy
Under LSU Policy Statement 60, the Union is one of the “leased premises” under the contract between the University and Charwells. Therefore, only food prepared by LSU Dining (Chartwells) can be served in the Union, including food for departmental meetings, parties and other functions. No catering or delivery by an outside food service provider is allowed.
Decorations/ Space Modifications
Physical modication of any room or space is prohibited. The Union Administration must approve requests for modication prior to alterations.

Please refrain from hanging items in office areas. You may contact the Union maintenance team for assistance. The Union maintenance team will hang framed paintings, pictures, or artwork. Banners, signs and decorations should not be taped, tacked, glued or otherwise attached to walls, windows, doors, columns, or hung from light fixtures or ceilings.

Damage Charges
Damages to Union property beyond normal wear and tear may incur charges to the tenant. Charges will
include actual cost of materials and labor rates.
Smoking
LSU is Tobacco free. This means there is NO SMOKING anywhere on campus. It is not allowed inside the building, outside the building or on the loading dock area.
Pets
Pets are not allowed in the building. The only exception is service animals assisting the disabled.
Skateboard, Biking & Segways
Skateboarding, skating, bike riding & segwaying are not allowed in the building. Please refrain from bringing bikes into the building. Outside bike racks have been provided for the safe-keeping of bikes while riders are in the building.
Interior Signs
Signs for meeting rooms, conference rooms and offices are to be kept consistent throughout the building. If you need names, room numbers or titles changed, please contact the Facilities Manager at 225-578-7532. Only the standard Union signage is allowed in public areas.
